God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Monday 20 June 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: John 17:4,5 "I have glorified you on the earth.  I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.  And now, O Father, glorify Me now together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with you before the world was."

In verse 4 Jesus says, "I have gloried You." Jesus here makes known the Father by completing the work God gave Him to do.  Jesus in verse 5 looked to the Father to restore Him to the glory He had in heaven before he left.  This is another indication of Christ's preexistence and deity.

The celestial glory that Jesus had from the beginning was temporarily hidden, during his earthly life.  At the ascension of Christ, Jesus was both glorified and transfigured. We will note the contrast between the post-resurrection appearances of Christ with the post ascension.  In the post resurrection appearances of Christ, He often concealed His glory to the point that he was not recognized, such as the disciples at Emmaus (Luke 24:16, 31), or by Mary Magdalene in (John 20:14) who thought that He was the gardener.

The post-ascension involved His radiant appearance.  The difference between John's meeting with Christ in John 21 and in Revelation 1 was that of seeing the Resurrection body (not glorified) and of later seeing the transformed and celestial body (glorified).  Someday all Christians will be glorified together with Christ.

Today's Hymn: "God Will Make A Way" (verse 1)

God will make a way, when there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot not see, He will make a way for me
He will be my guide, hold me closely to his side
With love and strength, for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  How we as Christians look forward to the day when we like Christ will have our transformed bodies and share with Christ in all His glory.  How we look forward to spending all eternity with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior where there will be no more sickness, no more pain, no more death, no more tears and no more sin.  May we as John in the closing verses of Revelation say, "Come, Lord Jesus, Come".

Today's Biblical Truth:  "Eternal Life is more than an endless existence.  It is a personal relationship with God"

Your Sister in Christ,
Cindi
