God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 28 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verses: Luke 21:5-38

The title of Luke's report of the end times teachings of Jesus, could have been "The Do's and Don'ts of Looking Toward History's End."  Jesus in these verses while talking to His Disciples tells them:

(1) Don't be deceived: (verse 8) The return of Jesus will not be a secret. There's no need for us to set dates.
(2) Don't be frightened: (Verses 9-11) Human history will be filled with wars and rumors of wars and disasters.  How good it is to know that God will look after His own.
(3) Don't worry about yourself when persecuted, but witness to your persecutors: (verses 12-16) After all, the people in real trouble are the ones who oppress God's Saint's! Let the Holy Spirit fill your mouth with words about Jesus, and your hearts with love for your enemies.
(4) Don't give up, even when everyone seems to be turning against you (verses 17-19) Stand firm on the foundation of your faith in Jesus. Others can hate you, but they can't do you any lasting harm
(5) Do flee Jerusalem when it is besieged (verses 20-24) This advice is for both the Jews then living and the lost who will dwell in the city as history's end draws near.
(6) Do take heart when the universe itself shows massive destabilization: (verses 25-31) This is a sign that Christ is soon to appear and is a cause for believers to rejoice rather than fear.
(7) Do exalt in the certainty that God's word is trustworthy, however life may be (verses 32-33) This reminder is for the last generation, (which could possibly be ours) and we should certainty take heart from our own hard times today.
(8) Do be watchful, pray, and preserve and so earn the approval of the Son of man (verse 34-36) Life here on this planet has it pressures, and many of them are intense. But we as Christians need to keep our eyes focused on Jesus, and let nothing distract us from serving Him.

Today's Biblical Truth: To those who do not know Jesus, everyday is a dark and dreary day, but those who belong to Jesus, everyday is a beautiful day."

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 25 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before Me."

We as Christians must give God absolute priority.  This commandment in verse 3 is key to all the others.  Unless we commit ourselves to God, and to God alone, our hearts will be drawn away from the righteousness the Ten Commandments decree.  For ancient Israel, "other gods" were often pagan idols.  For us today "other gods" may be the pursuit of wealth or pleasure.  If our commitment to the Lord is complete, then keeping the rest of the commandments will naturally follow.

God was not to be viewed by Israel as one God among many, nor as the best of the gods.  He was, is, and always will be the One and the only Almighty God.  He and He alone was to be worshipped, obeyed and adored by the Israelites then, just as as He should be by us today.  This first commandment teaches us that no deity, real or imagined, is to rival the one true God, who is the only one who matters.  It demands an exclusive covenant relationship with "Yahweh."

We as Christians need to remember that we live in a fallen world, which is an abnormal world that has been tainted by sin.  Much frustration, and failure will result from our seeking perfection in this life.  There is nothing perfect in this world except for God.  That is why our closeness, and our intimate relationship with our Abba Father, will satisfy the deep yearnings in our souls, and will fill us with everlasting joy.

God has planted the longing for perfection into every human heart, and this is a good desire which only God can fulfill.  Most people seek this fulfillment in other people, earthly pleasures, and achievements and thus they create idols, before which they bow down.  God our Creator, will "have no other gods before Him."  Jesus in Matthew 6:24 tells us, "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the love or love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and mammon."  We as Christians need to make God each and every day, the deepest desire of our hearts.

Today's Biblical Truth: "We as parents, are God's instruments in a child's life to meet his or her physical need, and to introduce the child to God's ways."

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 23 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Luke 4:18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me, to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those that are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."

This quote from Isaiah 61:1-2, focuses on the nature of the ministry of Jesus.  For He brings Good News to the brokenhearted, He proclaims liberty to the captives, He gave sight to the blind and He set at liberty the oppressed.  Jesus proclaimed the acceptable year of the Lord for He offers cancellation of spiritual debt and a new beginning to those who will respond to His message and His calling.

Jesus purposely omitted the last portion of 61:2 which reads, "the day of vengeance of our God." Jesus in  His first coming didn't come to judge, but introduce a grace, with forgiveness extended to all.  His Judgment is being delayed until His Second Coming.

Although Jesus was God during His earthly ministry, He still recognized His dependence on the ministry of the Holy Spirit. This was particularly necessary in view of His humiliation in the Incarnation. So intimate was the relationship between Christ and the Holy Spirit, that in the New Testament, He is views as endued with the Holy Spirit.

Specifically, the New Testament, recognizes the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the incarnation of Christ (Hebrews 10:5), birth (Matthew 1:18), death (Hebrews 9:14), resurrection (Romans 8:11), and glorification (John 16:14).  The Lord recognized His need to have such an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit, which in turn emphasizes the Christian's need to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).

Today's Biblical Truth: "Jesus compares His teachings to Light.  That Light should not be hidden, but displayed so that people can benefit from the illumination it gives."

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 21 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Psalm 139:23-24 "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked in me, and lead me in the way of everlasting."

Psalm 139, certainly is one of the grandest psalms of all the psalms, and it is also one of the richest theologically.  It combines an exposition of the greatest of God's Character with the reality of human experience.  From verses 19-22, we find that David wrote the psalm during a time of opposition.  It therefore contains truths that were meaningful to him during these troublesome times.  They may be summarized under four key thoughts as David addresses the Lord: (1) You know me (verses 1-6) (2) You are with me (verses 7-12) (3) You created me (verses 13-18) and (4) Your cause is my cause (verses 19-24).

This comparative attributes of God contrast human abilities with the divine nature.  Everyone has some knowledge, but only God has "ALL" knowledge (omniscience).  Every person has a presence, but only God has "PRESENCE" at all times everywhere (omnipresence).  Every person has some degree of power, but only God has "UNLIMITED" power (Omnipotence).  Psalm 139, lays a foundation for understanding the comparative attributes of God.  The omniscience of God is seen in verses 1-6.  The omnipresence  of God is seen in verses 7-11.  The omnipotence of God  is seen in verses 12-16.  Our response as Christians to the comparative attributes of God, should be to surrender to His leadership because He is wise, He is able to protect, and He knows the true way of life in Him.

As Christians living in dependence of God, is the only way for us to enjoy abundant life.  We can learn to appreciate tough times, because those times will amplify our awareness of God's Presence in our life's.  Tasks that we use to dread are becoming rich opportunities to enjoy the closeness of God.  When we feel tired, we need to realize that God is our Strength, and we can take pleasure in leaning on Him.  God is pleased by our tendencies to turn to Him more and more frequently, especially when we are alone, and need guidance.

Sometimes when we are with people, we lose sight of God's Presence.  Our fear of displeasing people often puts us in bondage to them, and they become our primary focus.  When we realize this has happened, we need to call out to God, and "whisper His name" for this tiny act of Trust, will bring God to the forefront of our consciousness, where He belongs.  As we bask in the Blessing of the Indwelling Power of the Holy Spirit, God's Blessings can flow through us to others, and that my Brothers and Sisters in Christ is "Abundant Life!"

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 16 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Galatians 3:13-14 "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, cursed is anyone who hangs on a tree), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through Faith."

When Jesus died for us, He took the curse of God upon Himself and exhausted it.  The Old Testament verse that is quoted in verse 13, is from Deuteronomy 21:23.  By being crucified, Christ became cursed for us, and technically became guilty of "all" and ALL our sins were place upon Him.  Because our faith unites us to our Savior, His death is considered ours, and in Him our sins, have been punished, so that we are set free.

The death of Christ was the purchase price that had to be paid.  Because the price has been paid, we as believers have been taken off the slave market.  We have been purchased by God and have been released from our slavery to sin and the Law, never to be in bondage again.

In verse 14, the word "that" appears twice, identifying two reasons that "Christ hath redeemed us from the law": (1) that Gentiles might receive the blessings of Abraham (justification) and (2) that believers might receive the Spirit (Indwelling of the Holy Spirit).  This tells us that when one is justified, he or she is at the same time divinely granted the Holy Spirit.  How comforting it is to know that "Christ" became the curse for us on the Cross of Calvary, and with His death and Resurrection we have been set free from the chains of bondage of sin that were wrapped around us.  "Thank You Jesus"

Prayer for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ who are being persecuted for their Faith and Trust in Jesus.  Always remember that when you are having spiritual, physical, and financial issues and you cry out, "I CAN'T," GOD Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN."

God's Words Of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 14 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Acts 1:9-11 "Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up and a cloud received Him out of their sight.  And while they steadfastly looked toward heaven as He went up, behold two in white apparel stood by them and said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into the heavens?  This same Jesus who was taken from you into heaven, will come back in the manner as you saw Him go into heaven."

Wow!! This same Jesus who was taken in the clouds will come back in the same matter and when He does come back the whole world will see Him.  In these verses, there are several things that unlike the appearances and disappearances over the past 40 days since the Resurrection of Jesus from the grave, this departure was gradual and visible.  This was different and final.  He would no longer appear to them in bodily form.  His next appearance on earth will be His Second Coming, when He will visibly and bodily set His feet on Mount Olive. (Come, Lord Jesus, Come)

A "witness" is a person who "gives evidence" basing his or her testimony concerning actual events from a direct personal knowledge.  The disciples gave this kind of evidence concerning the life of Christ and His Resurrection.  You and I give this kind of evidence with the work of God in our lives.

Jesus promised that He would never "LEAVE" nor "FORSAKE" us, and then He would be with us until the end of the earth.  He fulfilled this promise in the form of the "Holy Spirit" who dwells with each believer.  "Taken up" "cloud received Him" and "He went up" are three statements that portrayed the gradual majestic departure of Jesus from the earth.  The Second Coming of Christ and the establishment of His kingdom, will occur the same way that Jesus ascended, "Physically" and "Visibly" in the clouds so that the whole Word will see Him.  Do you like I do, when I see clouds gathering think to yourself, "Are those the clouds that Jesus will come on?"

Jesus Christ ascended to heaven to resume His Glory and Enthronement.  He also began His High Priest ministry in heaven for us as Christans, which continues still today and will continue until we are in heaven with Him.  He is our Advocate before the Father on our behalf as Satan accuses us day and night.  We who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb have been redeemed and God's wrath is no longer against us.

It is doubtful that the disciples who watched Jesus physically ascend completely understood all that it signified at first.  When we as Christians, understand what the ascension of Christ really means to us, then we can look forward to His imminent return, and work harder in our present Ministry of reaching out and telling others about the Free Gift of Salvation that comes through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 9 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Romans 8:13 "For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live."

Death here does not mean physical death, because those who are living according to the Spirit also die physically.  It refers to the experience of those who live their lives apart from God.  By walking according to the Spirit, by being spiritually minded, the believer can put to death sinful deeds and live for God.

The Scriptures use the word flesh in five ways.  It may refer to (1) the body or physical being (2) the old nature or sin nature (3) the skin (4) man's immaterial nature or (5) the whole being of man.  Paul uses the term "flesh" in these verse from Romans 8.  Flesh itself is not evil, yet Paul uses it to represent humanity's evil nature, which cannot please God.  Christians should glorify God in their physical bodies (flesh) as well as their spirits, since both belong to God.

How can we know that what Paul is speaking about is real?  The Spirit's presence in the Christian is unmistakable!  We sense His proceedings and respond.  We find a new direction in our relationship with God.  Deep down, our changed lives and sense of closeness to God, makes it absolutely clear, that we are God's children.  If you feel it believe it.  If you believe it, and then act on it, you will surely feel it.  Catherine Martin in her Book, "A Woman's Walk In Grace" says it this way, "God's Grace: "BELIEVE IT, RECEIVE IT, LIVE IT."

The Spirits work within us is present tense salvation.  We are saved from the power of sin and becoming righteous.  When Jesus comes we will be saved completely, liberated from the last vestiges of sin which clings so persistently to us.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how thankful we are that when we accepted Your Son Jesus Christ into our lives, that we became Yous sons and daughters, and have been adopted into Your family.  We as Your children have an inhertiance based on our relationship with You Abba Father.  May we through Your help and guidance, deal with the trials and tribulations that we face here upon this our temporary home, knowing that someday we will receive the eternal blessings of glory, from You when You welcome us into the kingdom that You have prepared for those who have placed their Faith and Trust in You.  We Thank You in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.    Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "Those led by the Spirit are God's children, and the Sovereign Lord, in turn, is their Father."

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 2 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Hebrews 10:19-22 "Therefore brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of FAITH, having our hearts sprinkled from evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water."

In these verses, the writer of Hebrews demonstrates the relationship between faith, hope, and love.  Faith in God leads believers to place their hope in His promises.  Restoring a right relationship with God, then prompts believers to restore their relationship with others.

Love for God demonstrates itself in love for others.  The writer here exhorts his readers to faith, hope, and love through these three commands: "Let us draw near" (verse 22); "Let us hold fast" (verse 22); "let us consider" (verse 24).

Unlike the Israelites, who approached God at Mount Sinai with fear and trembling, believers can approach God with "boldness," because as Christians we posses Christ's righteousness, and not our own.  The Holiest refers to the very Presence of God.  Through the blood of Christ, we have perpetual access to God Himself.

The Old Testament priests passed a veil to get to the holy place. (now (Praise God) we as believers need God's Presence through Christ's flesh, meaning his sacrificial death.  We as believers have a High Priest who having been tempted Himself can sympathize with our weakness and perfectly represent us before God.  Our consciences can be washed through the blood of Christ. Just as the high priest washed before entering the Most Holy Place, so we as believers are cleansed before we come before God.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, as we eagerly await for Your return to take us home, may we as Christians continue to do Your work upon this earth spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, and telling them of the Free Gift of Salvation to those who come to You seeking Your forgiveness from there sins.  Thank You Father that we as believers have been separated from our sins and set apart by You, by the once for all sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ.   Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "The believers hope in Christ is secure, like an anchor, and this anchor is not in sand, but in the very Presence of Almighty God."

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day. Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness. Love God More Today. Pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ who are being persecuted for their Faith and Trust in Jesus.  Always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T," GOD Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN."

"A Father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation." Psalm 68:5
