God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 31 January 2012, from Cindi, a daughter of the King of kings and Lord of lords."

Today's Bible Verse: James 3:13 "Who is wise and understanding among you?  Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in meekness of wisdom."

Being able to control what we say is a mark of spiritual maturity and significant accomplishment.  It seems the tongue tells more than what we suspect.  James describes the power and perversity of the tongue.  It has the power to inflame passions.  It participates in men and women's wicked acts, and even sets out thoughts in their direction, so corrupting our whole lives with evil, whose source is hell itself.  As a "restless evil," it is almost impossible to control and totally inconsistent in that the tongue that blesses some, will also curse others.

To "bless" is to "endure with power for success."  As Christians, we are called to bless others, in the sense of seeking the best for them, no matter how we may be treated.

Evil produces confusion, while on the other hand, God will bring harmony and wisdom.  Anyone who is involved in envy and strife will be confused.  This confusion corrupts human relationships.  The main characteristic of godly wisdom is that it is pure, meaning: "free from defilement."

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 29 January 2013, from Cindi, a Daughter of the King of kings and Lord of lords."

Today's Bible Verse: James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of god, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given him."

"Wow" How simple is that!! All we need to do is "ASK" and it will given to us.  How wonderful is our Almighty and Loving God, who will give us the desires of our hearts in accordanace to His Will.

In the Old and New Testaments "wisdom" is a practical, "what do I do next" kind of thing.  It's common when we are under pressure to feel deep frustration and "Ask God."  The wisdom that God gives in not neccessarily information on how to get out of trouble, but rather insight on how to learn from our difficulties (proverbs 29:15).  It is not information about how to avoid times of testing, but instead, a new prespective on trials.  The wisdom of God begins with a genuine reverence for Almighty God (Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 9:10), and a confidence that God control's all circumstances, and guides themto His good purposes (Romans 8:28).

This verse is not a blanket promise of wisdom for any situation.  In the context of the trial's of life, it probably speaks of the believer being granted (1) wisdom as to the reason for our trials and (2) wisdom to endure them.

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 24 January 2013, from Cindi, a Daughter of the King of kings and Lord of lords."

Today's Bible Verse: James 1:19-20 "So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God."

James in his letter, writes to Christians everywhere.  He encourages then to greet trials with joy, aware of their potential benefits. Anyone who feels a need for guidance in such situations may ask God.  But when a person asks, he or she must be willing to do what God directs, rather than wavier between obedience and going ones own way. As far as financial trials are concerned, rich and poor must find life's meaning in something other than material circumstances.

Temptations come from within and is a response of man's sin nature to circumstances. God has nothing to do with temptation. All that God brings into our lives is a good gift, and that includes trials. Whatever happens in our life, we MUST be committed to a righteous life and practicing "God's Word."

We as Christian should not evaluate ourselves by the world's standards. Poor? Focus in your high position in Christ.  Rich? Remember that you are nothing but a human being, destined to die, and whose only hope is in the Lord.  Keep these in mind and your financial situation will be irrelevant.

The pull toward evil that we feel when tested, a pull toward anger, striking out, or surrendering to passion, DOES NOT come from God.  That is, temptation is not located in the test, but in our sin natures response to the test.  If we realize God intends the test as a "good and perfect gift," our perspective will change. Rather than view tests as temptations and give in, we can welcome test as blessings intended to help us as Christians to grow in faith and trust. Our new life in Jesus, is the source of inner power that will enable us to triumph not only over the circumstances, but our sinful tendencies as well.

James 1:19-20 are key verses, because they express three topics that James in his book will develop later: (1) "Hearing" 1:19-27 (2) "Speaking" 3:1-12 and (3) "Wrath" 4:1-12.  Trials require "silence" and "patience" because "talk" inflames "anger"and "anger" inflames "talk."  Anger will also distract us from "listening" to God.

Just listening to the Word of God won't help us with the tests God's sends.  But a commitment to doing the Word, will lead us to blessings in all that we do and say.

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 22 January 2012, from Cindi, a Daughter of the Kings of kings and Lord of lords."

Today's Bible Verse: Isaiah 14:12-15 "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!  How you are cut down to the ground, you who weaken the nations! For you have said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High. Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the pit."

The five vaulting "I Will" statements starting in verse 13, reveal a twisted passion of the CREATURE to replace the CREATOR as Lord.  But the arrogant effort to rise higher that God leads only to a devastating fall. Isaiah here pictures Lucifer being cast down to the depths.

There are several lessons for us in this.  First is the pride, for "pride goes before the fall."  If we put "I" on the throne of our life's rather than the Lord, then we too are doomed to failure and disappointment.  Perhaps this kind of attitude is the ultimate source of evil, first in the universe and surely in our lives.  We as Christians need to be sure to walk humbly.  Second we must always remember that Satan is a fallen and defeated foe, because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Satan might be mighty now on this planet, but the power of our Almighty God is absolute.

We as Christians need to remember that Lucifer (Satan) was CREATED as one of God's highest angels by the CREATOR.  You will note the word CREATED.  He was a CREATED being as we humans were CREATED by the CREATOR, Almighty God.  He was on of God's highest CREATED angels possessing all angelic attributes.  The pride of Lucifer the CREATED being, led him to try and lead a rebellion against God the CREATOR.  Lucifer and the angels that he got to go with him in the rebellion against God, were defeated and casted out of heaven.

Satan is described as the "originator and chief practioner of sin" (1 John 3:8), "that wicked one" (1 John 5:18), "a thief and destroyer" (John 10:10), "a deceiver" (Revelation 12:9), "murderer and liar" (John 8:44), and "the accuser of the brethren" (Revelation 12:10).

Satan's subtle nature is reflected in the first temptation (Genesis 3:1), and in his titles, "angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14) and him that "deceived the whole world" (Revelation 12:9).  His present day activities include opposing the will of God, and counterfeiting the work of God, and destroying all that is good.

We as Christians can overcome Satan when we remember four basic principles: First and most important is that Jesus is greater than Satan (1 John 4:4), and we must have a healthy respect for the enemy because even the archangel Michael, did not confront Satan except in the Name of the Lord (Jude 9).  Second, we as Christians need to evaluate our life's and avoid those situations where we might most likely to be tempted (1 Thessalonians 5:22), Third, we should resist Satan by submitting to God (James 4:7-10).  Finally, we as Christians should always be prepared by wearing the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-17).  Be strong in the Lord and He will uplift you, and keep you strong in His Mercy, Love, and Grace.

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 5 January 2012, from Cindi, a Daughter of the King of kings and Lord of lords."

Today's Bible Verse: John 20:28-29 "And Thomas and answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God.!"  Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed.  Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed."

Thomas in awestruck wonder when he first saw Jesus after His resurrection proclaims. "My Lord and my God."  Thomas now not only believed that Jesus had risen from the dead, but he also saw that that the resurrection of Jesus proved His deity.

The story of Thomas serves as a climax to the theme of John's Gospel.  Thomas struggled with unbelief and doubt and insisted on the most unmistakable proofs.  His phrase in verse 25, "I will not believe it," rightly shifts the issue of belief and unbelief from the "intellect" to the "will."  Yet when confronted by Jesus, he recognized Him, fell  on his knees and believed,

All we as Christians can do, is present Jesus Christ to others, as we spread the Good News of the free gift of Salvation, that comes through Jesus Christ our Lord.  As we reach out to others, they will recognize Him and choose to believe, or choose not to.
