"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 22 January 2012, from Cindi, a Daughter of the Kings of kings and Lord of lords."
Today's Bible Verse: Isaiah 14:12-15 "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weaken the nations! For you have said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High. Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the pit."
The five vaulting "I Will" statements starting in verse 13, reveal a twisted passion of the CREATURE to replace the CREATOR as Lord. But the arrogant effort to rise higher that God leads only to a devastating fall. Isaiah here pictures Lucifer being cast down to the depths.
There are several lessons for us in this. First is the pride, for "pride goes before the fall." If we put "I" on the throne of our life's rather than the Lord, then we too are doomed to failure and disappointment. Perhaps this kind of attitude is the ultimate source of evil, first in the universe and surely in our lives. We as Christians need to be sure to walk humbly. Second we must always remember that Satan is a fallen and defeated foe, because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Satan might be mighty now on this planet, but the power of our Almighty God is absolute.
We as Christians need to remember that Lucifer (Satan) was CREATED as one of God's highest angels by the CREATOR. You will note the word CREATED. He was a CREATED being as we humans were CREATED by the CREATOR, Almighty God. He was on of God's highest CREATED angels possessing all angelic attributes. The pride of Lucifer the CREATED being, led him to try and lead a rebellion against God the CREATOR. Lucifer and the angels that he got to go with him in the rebellion against God, were defeated and casted out of heaven.
Satan is described as the "originator and chief practioner of sin" (1 John 3:8), "that wicked one" (1 John 5:18), "a thief and destroyer" (John 10:10), "a deceiver" (Revelation 12:9), "murderer and liar" (John 8:44), and "the accuser of the brethren" (Revelation 12:10).
Satan's subtle nature is reflected in the first temptation (Genesis 3:1), and in his titles, "angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14) and him that "deceived the whole world" (Revelation 12:9). His present day activities include opposing the will of God, and counterfeiting the work of God, and destroying all that is good.
We as Christians can overcome Satan when we remember four basic principles: First and most important is that Jesus is greater than Satan (1 John 4:4), and we must have a healthy respect for the enemy because even the archangel Michael, did not confront Satan except in the Name of the Lord (Jude 9). Second, we as Christians need to evaluate our life's and avoid those situations where we might most likely to be tempted (1 Thessalonians 5:22), Third, we should resist Satan by submitting to God (James 4:7-10). Finally, we as Christians should always be prepared by wearing the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-17). Be strong in the Lord and He will uplift you, and keep you strong in His Mercy, Love, and Grace.
