God's Words of Wisdom

"Greeting in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 27 September 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Luke 12:22-27 "Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body. what you put on.  Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.  Consider the raven for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them.  Of how much value are you than the birds?  And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?  If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?  Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."

Wow!!! Here Jesus is telling us NOT TO WORRY, that He will provide and take care of us, His children. Jesus in these verses extends His teachings from abundant possessions (wealth) to necessities.

We are physical beings in a material universe, and must have food, water, and shelter to survive. Jesus challenges us not to be anxious even about necessities and gives two vital insight: (1) We need not be anxious because we have an Abba Father who care for us and (2) we must not be anxious because that would shift the focus of our attention from God, to the things of this world.

Anxiety is a result of envisioning the future without God.  The best defense against worry is staying in communication with our Heavenly Father.  When we turn our thoughts  toward Him, we can think more positively. Remember to listen, as well as speak, making your thoughts a dialogue with God.

If you must consider upcoming events follow these rules: (1) Do not linger in the future, because anxieties sprout up like mushrooms when you wander there (2) Remember the promise of God's continual Presence and include God in any imagery that comes into your mind.

Mental discipline does not come easy for us, because we are accustomed of being in control and trying to work it out for ourselves and not giving it to God.  However, the reality of God's Presence with us now and forever outshines and out weights anything that we can ever do on our own.

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 26 September 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path."

The words trust in the Lord, echo the command of Deuteronomy 6:5, "to love God with all our being."  The verb "trust" in verse 5,  is complemented by the word "lean."  Trusting in God is a conscious dependance on God, much like leaning on a tree for support.

Three commands are given in verse 6: (1) TRUST meaning, "rely on, depend on" (2) LEAN NOT meaning, "do not depend on your own native instints" and (3) ACKNOWLEDGE HIM meaning "have fellowship and intimacy with God in all of your life."  The result of such devotion is that God will make paths straight for you.

The basic widom issues touched on here in theses verse, and in the Book of Proverbs, is to have a personal relationship with God.  Only if we know Him, and respond to Him, will the message that is presented in the Book of Proverbs produce fruit.

We as Christians need to trust the Lord completely, and to "ALWAYS" acknowledge Him in everything that we do. We are to rely on God's Word rather than on our own human wisdom.  We are to honor God, by giving generously, and we are to remember when hard times come, that God loves us still, and we will see, that we have a Father who loves us deeply.

The idea here in reinforced by the command to "acknowledge Him", which means to "know that He is God," so that He can set us on the right path to righteous living.  In doing so, we a Christians will find out that time and time again that God will smooth out our paths as we walk in the footsteps of Jesus.

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 13 September 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Ephesians 3:3-5 "How that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written, by which you have read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets."

The word "mystery" in the New Testament identifies truth that was previously hidden from common knowledge, but is now revealed, discernible only by the aid of the Holy Spirit.  (Romans 16:25-26; 1 Corinthians 2:7-10).

There are seven aspects of the "mystery" concerning that period known as "the times of the Gentiles."  They are (1) mystery of the incarnation (1 Corinthians 2:7; Colossians 2:2,9) (2) the mystery of the gospel (Ephesians 6:19) (3) the mystery of Christ and His church (Ephesians 5:32) (4) the mystery of the indwelling of Christ (Colossians 1:27) (5) the mystery of Jews and Gentiles in one body (Ephesians 3:1-12) (6) the mystery of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 13) and (7) the mystery of the Rapture (1 Corinthians 15:51).

Because the mystery of the gospel was not revealed clearly until the church was established, Satan and his demonic servants were the unwilling servants of God.  Had they understood what they were doing, they would not have crucified Christ (1 Corinthians 2:8).  We as Christians however, who do understand the plan of God for this world, should be eager to do his or her part in spreading the Good News of the FREE GIFT of SALVATION that comes through the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In verse 5, the word "holy" is used in the sense of being set apart, not as an implication of moral superiority.  The apostles and prophets were set apart by God to convey the Spirit's new revelation.

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 11 September 2012"

Before I begin I would like for us all to take a few moments in silence prayer for all those who lost their lives on the World Trade Center attack 11 years ago in New York City.  May God' Love, Strength, and Peace uplift all who were killed and injured in that attack.  Pray always for the men and Women who serve in our Armed Forces at home and around the world.

Today's Bible Verse: Psalm 5:1-3 "Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.  Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You  I will pray.  My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD, In the morning I will direct it to you, And I will look up."

"Give ear" in verse 1, is the language of a person, who believes from experience, that God has forgotten his plight.  The sufferer calls on the Lord to listen, even though the Lord has been continually listening and caring.  "Meditation" here refers to incessant groaning. David  often addressed God in heaven as "My King" the ruler over all things. At times the psalms focuses on prayer in the morning as in verse 3, which is a commendable habit, that helps a person to dedicate all the activities of the day, to the glory of God.

We as Christians, need to let God show us His way for us every day.  The Holy Spirit will guide us continually, so that we can relax, and enjoy God's Presence, in the present.  Living well is both a discipline, and an art, as we concentrate on staying close to God, the divine artist.

We need to discipline our thoughts to Trust God, as He works His way into our lives.  We need to come to God in prayer about everything, and then leave the outcome of our prayers to God.

We as believers should not fear the Will of God, for through it, God will accomplish what is "best for us."  Take a deep breath and dive into the depths of absolute trust in God, His word and His NEVER CHANGING promises, for in that Trust, God will wrap us up in His everlasting arms.

Today's Biblical Truth: "Only when we walk in the Light shed by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God, can we see things for what they really are, and respond appropriately."

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 4 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: James 1:2-5 "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall in various trails, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.  If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

Trails are of outward circumstances, conflicts, suffering, and troubles that are encountered by "ALL" believers.  Trials are not pleasant and may be extremely grievous, but believers are to consider them as opportunities for rejoicing.  Troubles and difficulties are a tool which refines and purifies our Faith, producing patience and endurance.

The term "testing of your faith" means "tested" or "approved."  The aim of testing is not to destroy or afflict, but to "purge" and "refine."  Patience transcends the idea of bearing affliction; it includes the idea of standing fast under pressure, with a staying power that turns trials and tribulations into opportunities of Praise.  If a believer endures a trial, he or she will be perfect, meaning "have reached the end" and they are complete, meaning, "that they are whole."

The wisdom God is not necessarily information on how to get out of trouble, but rather insight on how to learn from ones difficulties.  The Wisdom of God begins with a genuine reverence for the Almighty, and a steadfast confidence that God controls all circumstances, guiding them to "His Good Purpose."

The sacrifice of Thanksgiving rings golden bells of JOY throughout the heavenly realm.  On earth also, our patient suffering sends out ripples of Good tiding in ever widening circles.  When suffering strikes, remember that God is sovereign, and that He can bring GOOD out of EVERYTHING.

Do not try to run from pain or hide your problems, instead, accept adversity in the Name of Jesus, offering it up to God for His purposes.  Your suffering gains meaning and draws you closer to God.  Joy emerges from the ashes of adversity through your Trust and Thankfulness in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

The summary of these verses is this: Jesus tells us to suffer for Him in His Name.  All suffering has meaning in His kingdom.  Pain and problems are continued opportunities to demonstrate your Trust in God.  Bearing your circumstances bravely, and even thanking Him for them is one of the highest forms of Praise.

God's Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 1 September 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: John 9:1-5 "Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blinded from birth.  And His disciples asked Him say, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" Jesus answered,"neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.. I must work the works of Him who sent me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am n the world, I am the Light of the world."

Popular theology in the time of Jesus, was that sickness was a punishment for sin.  In the case of a person born blind, this posed a theological riddle.  "Was the man blind for the sins he would commit? or were the sins of the parents being punished in the son?" The answer of Jesus is important: "Neither sinned."  God had another purpose in the man's disability.

In Scripture, sickness and sin are related, in that Adam introduced both into the universe.  Individual sickness is not thus a punishment for sins, though its is a witness to humanity's sinful condition.  We should not wail, "Why is God punishing me?" when we, or or loved ones suffer.

There is, however, and even more positive message here in these verses.  God did intend to redeem the blind man's suffering by using it for His Glory. The healing of this blind man by Jesus, reminds us that often in expected ways, our suffering can be used by God for His good.  The disciples in these verses weren't moved by compassion but by a theological curiosity.  As Christians our first concern should be that of Jesus, for the sufferer.  We need to meet peoples needs and wrestle with the theological questions afterward.

Today's Biblical Truth: "We can see spiritual truth, if we are willing to accept it."

Gods Words of Wisdom

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 30 August 2012"

Today's Bible Verse: Psalm 62:5-8 "My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is for Him.  He is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be moved.  In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.  Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is refuge for us."

Thoughts of confidence and trust predominate in Psalm 62, making this psalm a "psalm of confidence."  The expressions of trust found in verses 1,2 and 5 and 7 are rich with figures that picture the absolute stability of being found in God.  At least five nouns describe God's protection: Rock, Salvation, Defense (verse 2), glory and refuge (verse 7).  The lament verses of 3 and 4 concerns his enemies.  However, from his confident position, he is able to exhort others to trust in the Lord (verses 8-12).

Jesus is the culmination of our hopes and desires.  He is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last: who is, and was, and is to come.  Before we knew God, we expressed our longings for Him in hurtful ways.  We were vulnerable to the evil around us in the world.  But God's Presence, shields us, enfolding us in His Loving Arms.

God has lifted us out of darkness and into His Marvelous Light.  Jesus will bring many pleasures into our lives, so we as Christians need to receive God's Blessings with open hands, and enjoy His Good Gifts and cling to them.  Always turn your attention to the "Giver" of all "Good Things" and rest in the knowledge that we are complete in Him.

The one thing, that we as Christians need, is the one thing that we will never lose: His Presence that is always with us.  He has promised us that He will NEVER LEAVE nor FORSAKE us, and that we are sons and daughters of the King of kings and Lord of lords.  Today in this my day of sorrow I am clinging to that promise of His being with me when the sea of my life is smooth and especially when the storms of my life fall upon in me.  How wonderful it is to know that I can jump into my Savior's Arms and feel His Loving, Strong and Protective Arms around me.

Have you been to Jesus for this Free Gift of Salvation?  Have you felt His Presence when you are down and need him the most?  Do you feel His Strength and His Arms around you as you have trials and storms in your life?  If not, why not come to Jesus TODAY, and be assured that when you are sinking in the storms of life, and you call out to Him, He is there to pull you up, and to Strengthen and Comfort you.  If you will open your hearts door, to the calling of the Holy Spirit, you will be assured that when you live this our temporary home and you stand before Almighty God, and He opens the Book of Life to your name, it will say, "WASHED IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB" and he will welcome you into the kingdom that He has prepared for us, who are His children, where we will spend all eternity, basking in His Love and Light.

Today's Biblical Truth: To lift our hands to the Lord, expresses dependence on Him, coupled with an acknowledgement of His Power, Wonder and Majesty."
