God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Saturday 28 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Exodus 20:17  "You shall not covet your neighbors house; you shall not covet your neighbors wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, or his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbors."

Today is number Ten of God's Ten Commandments.  Covet means "to have a strong desire for."  Coveting is not merely an application of something from a distance, but a uncontrolled, inordinate, selfish desire.

The Tenth Commandment governed an internal matter:  the sin of coveting occured in the mind.  To want anything which God has chosen to give another reveals a failure to give God priority in our lives.

Today's Hymn: "Christ Receiveth Sinful Men"

Come, and He will give you rest, trust Him, for His word is plain
He will take the sinfulest, Christ receiveth sinful men
Sing it o'er and over again, Christ receiveth sinful men
Make the message cleat and plain, Christ receiveth sinful men

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Help us as we live our life's for you, not to want what our neighbors, or friends have but to focus on you and that others will see what we have within us and they will want, what we have in Jesus.
                                                                                                                 Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Thursday 26 May 2011

"Greeting Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today is number nine in the Ten Commandments of God

Today's Bible Verse: Exodus 20:16  "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."

The ninth commandment prohibited bearing false witness.  First the command protected the reputation of people from libel from others.  Second, this command established the Israelite system of justice on a firm foundation.  In Israelite law, the judging of a persons guilt or innocence was based on testimony by faithful witnesses.  False witnesses could and would undermine justice.

The command includes, but goes beyond, testimony given in court.  False testimony in any malicious statement intended to degrade or harm another.  The reputation of others as well as their property is to be guarded by all.

Today's Hymn:  "Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing" (verse 2)

Sorrowing I shall be in spirit, Till released from flesh and sin
Yet from what i do inherit, here Thy praises I'll bring
Here I raise my Ebenezer, here by Thy great help I've come
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Help us in our dealings with others to be truthful and honest and not to say things that would harmful or untrue.  Help us Holy Spirit to be more Christ like in everything that we say and do.
                                                                                                                        Amen

God's Words of Wisdom for Wednesday 25 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse" Exodus 20:15  "You shall not steal"

The eighth commandment protected the sanctity of property by prohibiting theft.  The command prohibits stealing of any kind.  The concern here is not so much the rights of the individual to property, as for the destructive impact  on stealing on relationships within the covenant community.

The penalty for theft in the Old Testament is not jail, but restitution by paying back as least twice what was stolen.  Payment to the victim is intended to restore harmony by balancing the books, and is not punitive.

Today's Hymn: "Grace Greater than Our Sin" (verse 2)

Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold, threaten the soul with infinite loss
Grace that is greater, yes grace untold, points to the refuge, the mighty Cross
Grace, grace, God's grace, Grace that will will pardon and cleanse within
Grace, grace, God's grace, Grace that is greater than all our sin

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  As the temptation to take something that doesn't belong to us comes to our minds help us to ponder the question of would my actions be something that would please Jesus and portray Him in me?  As Satan seeks to attack the Christian provide for us Lord the strength to resist the devil and he will flee from us.
                                                                                                                                  Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Tuesday 24 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Exodus 20:14  "You shall not commit adultery"

The seventh commandment concerns "adultery".  God regards the sanctity of marriage as a sacred trust similar to the sanctity of life.  The integrity of relationships is critical in the eyes of God.  The faithfulness of a man and woman to each other reflects faithfulness of God to us His   people.  Scripture sees adultery as a sin against God, a denial of the marriage covenant that binds a couple to the Lord

Today's Hymn: "Glory To His Name"

I am so wondrously saved from sin, Jesus so sweetly abides within
There at the Cross where He took me in, Glory to His Name
Glory to His Name, glory to His Name!
There to my heart was the blood applied
Glory to His Name!

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit   As I awake to another day of life that you have most graciously given to me I say unto Thee as the prophet Isaiah said in Isaiah 6:8 "Here I am Lord sent me."   May we as Christians be willing to go wherever the direction of the Holy Spirit leads us.  For nothing can compare in following You,  for what You did for us upon the Cross of Calvary.
                                                                                                                             Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Monday 23 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today is the sixth of God's Ten Commandments.

Today's Bible Verse: Exodus 20:13  "You shall not murder"

Commandments six through nine were designed to build a cohesive society.  Each was based on people (their lives, their relationships, their property, and their reputation.  Each of Commandments six through nine were reaffirmed in the New Testament.

Today's Commandment "You shall not murder" did not forbid all taking of life, for the Law itself, included provisions of capital punishment as well as warfare.  The deliberate murder of another person flagrantly violated the sanctity of life.  The first murder in the Bible occurred in Genesis 4:8-18 when Cain killed Abel.  But the most read about and written murder of all times in the New Testament was the murder of Jesus that was based on false charges and an illegal trail.

Today's Hymn: "Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)"

One day they led Him up Calvary's mountain, one day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected, bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree, and took the nails for me
Living He loved me, Dying He saved me, Buried He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever, One day He's coming
Oh glorious day, Oh glorious day

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  How we praise You and Thank You for Living and Loving me, for Dying and saving me, for being buried and burying my sins into the depth of the sea and for arising and defeating Satan forevermore and giving us the victory through Jesus.
                                                                                                                                   Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Sunday 22 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Exdous 20:12:  "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord Your God is giving you."

Today is number five in the Ten Commandments of God.

Honor your father and your mother means "to treat with signifiance", "to treat with respect".  Care of one's elderly parents was a basic element of social responsibility.  Here it is tied directly to how a person would fare in the land.  People who were faithless to God in disregarding their parents would not last long in the new promised land.

Parents are God's instruments in a child's life, to meet his or her physical needs, and to introduce the child to God's ways.  The spiritual priority of parents is seen in many of Israel's religious ceremonies, such as the passover meal, were conducted within the family.

Deuteronomy 6 and 11 fix responsibility for nuture in the home.  It's significant that in the predominantly male Old Testament world "mother" is given and equal status, and even listed first in Leviticus 19:3.

Today's Hymn: "Lord I'm Coming Home"

I've wandered far away from God, Now I'm coming home;
The paths of sin too long I've trot, Lord, I'm Coming home.
Coming home, Coming home, never more to roam
Open wide Thine arms of love, Lord, I'm Coming home

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  How thankful we are to our parents to whom You have given us.  May be respect them, obey them, and love them just as we love You our Heavenly Father.  May we take care of our elderly parents just as You take care of us, Your children.
                                                                                                                                      Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for saturday 21 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Exodus 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy."

The fourth of the Ten Commandments, "remember the sabbath day", was the special sign of the covenant with Israel at Mount Sinai.  With this command, God set Israel apart from her neighbors.  Other people had their own various patterns of work and rest, but Israel was to set aside one day in seven for rest.

The word sabbath means "rest".  The day was kept holy by ceasing their labor on that day.  During the Sabbath,  the Israelites worshiped God and recalled His deliverance of them from slavery.  The pattern of six days of work and one of rest was  established by God Himself in the Creation, and God's Old Testament people were to honor Him by refraining from work on the seventh day.

Today's Hymn: "Christ Receiveth Sinful Men"

Come, and he will give you rest, Trust him, for His Word is plain
He will take the sinfulest, Christ received sinful men
Sing it o'er and over again Christ received sinfull men
Make the message pure and plain, Christ received the sinful man

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Thank you for your word that tells us about the free gift that we have through your son Jesus.  Thank You Jesus for receiving us unto Yourself and cleansing us from all our unrighteousness.
                                                                                                               Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Thursday 19 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today is the SECOND of God's TEN COMMANDMENTS.

Exodus 20:4-6 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.  For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of their fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments."

God is Spirit.  So making any image for use in worship would corrupt our our grasp of His nature as YAHWEH.  God's "jealously" (verse 5) reflects a passionate concern for us to know and worship Him as He truly is.

The reference to "punishing the children for the sins of their fathers" reminds us that idolatry would bring judgment and would effect the idolater's descendants.

In verse 6 the Lord's mercy would extend even more to the descendants of righteous people.  The phrases "third and fourth" with thousands demonstrates that God's mercy is greater than His wrath.  The lingering effects of righteousness will last far longer that the lingering effects of wickedness.  If we know and worship God in His spiritual nature we protect our descendants from the sins, and punishments that will happen wherever men and women fail to know and love the Lord.

Today's Hymn: "Crown Him With Many Crowns"

Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne
Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own;
Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for Thee
And hail Him as thy matchless King throughout all eternity.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Thank you for being the One True Living and Almighty God.  Help us Lord not to worship the things of this world but to keep our eyes focused on You and having a constant Love for You with all our Hearts, Minds and Souls just as Your Love is NEVER ENDING for us.
                                                                                                            Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Wednesday 18 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Exodus 20:3  "You shall have no other gods before Me"

For the next ten days the Holy Spirit has put on my heart to review the Ten Commandments.  In the world that we live in a review of God's Ten Commandments will be a reminder to the believer of how our Almighty God wants us to live our lives.

"No other gods", means that God must be given absolute priority.  This commandment is key to all the others.  Unless we commit ourselves to God, and to God alone, our hearts will be drawn away from the righteousness the Ten Commandments command.  For ancient Israel "other gods" were pagan idols.  For us today "other gods" may be the pursuit of wealth or pleasure.  If our commitment to the Lord is complete, keeping the rest of the Ten Commandments will follow naturally.

God was not to be viewed by Israel as one God among many nor as the best of the gods.  He was and still is the only living God.  He and He alone was to be worshiped, obeyed, and adored by the Israelites then and us today.

Today's Hymn: "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing"

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing Thy Grace
Streams of mercy, never ceasing, calls for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, mount of Thy redeeming love.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  As we serve you the One true and Living God may we as we live our lives for you not place the things of "THIS WORLD" above our worshiping you as the Almight God.  May we give you our hearts and minds and and make You the priority of our lives, and may we "NOT BE OF THIS WORLD".
                                                                                                                           Amen

God's Word's of Wisdom from the Bible for Sunday 15 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Galatians 5:22,23  "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.  Against such there is no law."

In contrast to the works of the flesh, which any individual is capable of preforming, the fruit of the Holy Spirit can be produced only by God.  Christians character thus results from "Christ living within us".  For this fruit to develop, all nine aspects of the fruit of the Spirit must mature.  The character of Christ is the fullest manifestation of this fruit in the New Testament.  Though Jesus did not recognize the traditions of men, His enemies were unable to prove any charges against Him.

We as Christians today should allow the Holy Spirit to develop this character within us, so that we might be blameless before others and not hinder the testimony of Christ.  The Spirit is also like an engine.  It provides energy for the new nature, which drives the new believer in the opposite direction from the sin nature.  The Holy Spirits works are obvious, for the Spirit produces the fruit of the Spirit in the believer's personality. ("Praise God for that life changing experience")

Today's Hymn: "Love Lifted Me" (verse 2)

All my heart to Him I'll give, ever to Him I'll cling
In His blessed presence live, ever His praises sing.
Love so mighty and so true merits my soul's best songs;
Faithful, loving service, too, to Him belong
Love Lifted me! (even me), Love lifted me! (even me)
When nothing else could help, Love lifted me!

Heavenly Father  Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  How thankful we are for the fruits of the Spirit.  Holy Spirit help us to grow and mature into the fruits of the Spirit so that we will be more Christ like and bear fruit for the Kingdom of God.
                                                                                                                      Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for saturday 14 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

I am sorry that these haven't gotten out to you in a few days but the site was down for repairs.  But PRAISE GOD  it is back up and I am now able to send out the GOOD NEWS about JESUS once again.

Today's Bible Verse: Deuteronomy 6:4,5 "Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One!  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength."

The fundamental concept of the Shema (the name of the passage, which is the first word in Hebrew: Hear!) is that God is one and not many god's.  By definition, there can be only one all-powerful, infinite, limitless God.  To speak of more than one supreme, absolute, perfect, and almighty Being is to say something contradictory.  There cannot be two absolutes, for then there would be no absolute.  By revelation, we know that only YAHWEH is that one God.  Therefore nothing in your life that should come between you and God.

Moses repeatedly exhorted the Israelites to respond to God's love and devotion.  In this context, the word translated love may mean "to takes ones choice in".  God commanded His people to choose Him with all their being, and in the process to deny all other supposed deities.  Complete love for our Abba Father should not be a duty but a daily desire to have His arms wrapped around us and showering us with His Love, His Care and His NEVER ENDING Grace.

Today's Hymn: "Child Of The King"

My Father is rich in houses and lands
He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!
Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold
His coffers are full, He has riches untold
I'm a child of the King, A child of the King
With Jesus my Savior, I'm a child of the King

Abba Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  How thankful we are to be a Child of the King.  Thank you Heavenly Father for Your compassion, love and mercy for us.  May we as Your children love You more each day and find a total and complete peace in You.
                                                                                                            Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength"

God's Words of Wisdom for Wednesday 11 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Psalm 37:31 "The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide."

The law of God is the extension of God's nature and expression of God's will in His creation.  God's law is expressed in different forms, relating to different areas of His creation.  The physical law of God includes the laws of nature which govern the continuous physical existence of this world.  The moral law, also called "the perfect law of liberty", governs the immaterial issues of life.  The social law of God affects interpersonal relationships and can be summarized by the "royal law".  The spiritual law deals with men's and women's relationship with God.

The purpose of the law is to reveal the sovereignty of God, and place a restraint on the sinner, to show the greatness and reality of sin, and to lead the sinner to Christ.  The purpose of the law DID NOT CHANGE with the gospel.  As Christians we should be concerned to live decently and orderly  We should declare our love for God's law and make every effort to make it part of our life.

Today's Hymn:  "Give Of Your Best To The Master"

Give of your best to the Master, give of the strength, of your youth
Throw your soul's fresh glowing ardor, into the battle for truth
Jesus set the example, dauntless was He, young and brave;
Give Him your loyal devotion, give Him the best that you have
Give of your best to the Master; Give of the strength, of your youth
Clad in Salvation's full armor; Join in the battle for truth

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  May we as Christians and as children of the King give You our loyal devotion and the best that we have.  Help us Lord to make Your laws a part of our lives so that we will be more like You .
                                                                                                         Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "God knows that our days on earth are only the beginning of our days with Him in eternity" ("Praise God")

God's Words of wisdom for Tuesday 10 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Hebrews 4:16  "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."

On Monday's I am attending a Woman's Bible Study at JPL Bible Church from the book "Love to Pray".  Last week on Tuesday I discussed week 4 of the study from 1 Timothy 2:1.  Since prayer is such a vital importance in the Christian Life I have been compelled to go back to week one and for the next seven weeks on Tuesday's take information from this book and include it in the daily writing.  I have learned so much about prayer from this study thus far and it is my prayer that it will help you in your prayer life as well.

In verse 16 of today's Bible Verse "Let us come boldly" the word "come" means to draw near.  Because of Christ's priestly work, believers can approach God's presence.  The writer of Hebrews is expressing the openness of God's call in Christ "Come"

Boldness means "fearlessness", or "courage".  Believers should courageously approach God in prayer because He is a throne of grace, and our High Priest sits at His right hand interceding for us.

What was taught in this lesson was (1) that prayer is about a love relationship with God (2) that all elements of prayer are elements of relationship (3) that true prayer starts and ends with God (4) that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all involved when we pray.

These are the Practical Suggestions: (1) Always start your prayers by asking the Holy Spirit to teach you what and how to pray and (2) As you begin to pray, pause in order to consciously recall that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit want what's best for you.

Today's Hymn:  "Beautiful Garden Of Prayer"

There's a garden where Jesus is waiting, There's a place that is wondrously fair;
For it grows with the light of His presence, 'Tis that beautiful garden of prayer
Oh, the beautiful garden, the garden of prayer; Oh, the beautiful garden of prayer
There my Savior awaits, and He opens the gates, To the beautiful garden of prayer.

Heaven Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  It is the request of every Christian as well as it was with the disciples, "Teach us to pray".  Help us to realize that prayer is nothing more than an ongoing and growing love relationship with You Abba Father, Your Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  May we grow to understand that praying is all about loving the One to whom we pray.

God's Words of Wisdom frm the Bible for Monday 9 May 2011

"Greetings everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: John 5:30  "I can of Myself do nothing.  As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent me."

Christ's judgment is righteous because it is in accordance with God's divine will.  In verse 19 of John 5 Jesus said, " The Son can do nothing of Himself";  here in this verse He says that He can do nothing independent of the Father.

Jesus publicly identifies Himself with God the Father and not only goes on at length to prove His claim is valid, but also insists that He is the source of eternal life. This claim is validated not only by Jesus' miracles, but by the Scriptures themself.  Any who rejects Him stands accused by the very book they claim to believe "God's Holy Word".

Today's Hymn: "You Are My All In All" (verse 2)

Taking my sin, my cross my shame, rising up again, I bless Your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up, when I am dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all
Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your Name
Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your Name

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus Holy Spirit Thank you for Your Holy Word that tells us how we might be able to come to you boldly.  Thank you for your grace and the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.  Thank You for picking us up when we do fall,  that we may always keep our focus on You and on the Cross.
                                                                                                                Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible on Mother's Day 8 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Happy Mother's day to all the Mother's who read this Blog and to those who don't read it.  May God's richest Blessings be with you and this your Special Day.  Today's Bible Scripture and poem are dictated to you.

Today's Bible Verses: Proverbs 31:10-31
Today's Key Verse: Proverbs 31:26  "She opens her mouth with Wisdom, And her tongue is the law of kindness."

Today's Scripture Verses emphasizes a different quality about the excellent wife: (1) she is rare (2) trustworthy (3) constant in her love (4) industrious (5) thrifty (6) self starting (7) willing to do hard work (8) willing to work long hours (9) willing to do monotonous work (10) compassionate (11) not swayed by circumstances (12) a good seamstress (13) married to a leader (14) an entrepreneur (15) not satisfied with the mediocre (20) a woman of God (21) praiseworthy (22) a woman of means (23) a woman of great skills and abilities.

She is a woman of God who is enterprising and deciated to her home.  Perhaps the statement on being the excellent wife is placed at the end of Proverbs because she, above all others, will be the most able to demonstrate the principles of wisdom in the house.

                                                 "A Mother's Love"
A Mother's Love is like an island, in life's ocean vast and wide
A Mother's Love is a peaceful shelter, from the wind, rain and tide
A Mother's Love is bound on the north by Hope, By patience on the west
By tender counsel on the south and on the east by rest
A Mother's Love is like a beacon of light, that radiates faith, truth and prayer
And through the changing scenes of life, I find haven in a Mother's Love.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit,  Today as we honor Mother's it is my prayer that you will bless each Mother throughout the world. I thank you for my Mom who is such a godly woman who continues to be a blessing to me.  May we honor and respect our Mother's for all that they do for us, and for there continuing love and being that quite shelter in this thing we call life.
                                                                                                                                 Amen

God's Words of Wisdom for Saturday 7 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: James 1:19,20  "So then my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God."

Verse 19 is a key verse because it expresses three topics that James develops later: hearing, speaking and wrath.  These three elements reveal the outline of the Book of James.

If a believer gets angry in difficult situations and circumstances, the practical righteousness of God will not be evident in his or her life.  When someone wrongs us, the natural reaction is to get even at least verbally.  But this response does not glorify God.  Holding one's tongue, and trying to understand the other person's position, and leaving vindication to God demonstrates godly love in tense situations.

Today's Hymn: "How Great Thou Art" (verse 1)

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy hands has made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou Art
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Help us Lord in dealing with anger toward those who do us wrong.  Fine tune our listening Lord that we might listen and be able to see the situation and help us to be slow to speak back with anger and even more slower to seek revenge.  Help us to demonstrate with our words and our actions, You in us.
                                                                                                                      Amen

God's Words of wisdom from the Bible for Friday 6 May 2011

Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse:  Galatians 4:6  "And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"  Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."

Just as "God sent forth His Son" in "the fullness of time" in world history, so God has sent forth His Spirit of Christ at just the right time for every person who believes in Christ.  We as Christians know the intimacy with the Father because of the indwelling Spirit.

Every child of God was divinely given the Holy Spirit the moment he or she was adopted by God.  Abba Father is an Aramaic domestic term by which the father was called in the affectionate intimacy of the family.  It corresponds to our "daddy" or "papa".  The Spirit gives us an awareness that God is our Father.

Today's Hymn: "Jesus Is All The World to Me"

Jesus is all the World to me, my life, my joy my all;
He is my strength from day to day, without Him I would fall
When I am sad, to Him I go, no other one can cheer me so;
When I am sad, he makes me glad, He's my Friend

Abba Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit How wonderful is our love relationship with you Abba Father, and that we have such a loving and caring Heavenly Father.  Thank you Father, for the Holy Spirit that gives us an awareness that You are indeed our "daddy"our "papa".  Jesus You are my strength for each day, and without it I would surely fall.  Thank you for the joy in my life that I have because of You .
                                                                                      Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Thursday 5 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Is from various passages in Psalm that portray "The Christ of the Psalms".

During my study on the Book of Psalm and doing the Blog on this wonderful Book I have found quite a few Portrayal's of Christ in this book and have listed the Psalm verse and the fulfillment of that verse in the New Testament.  I hope that you find today's writing as interesting as I did.

Psalms is just one of the books in the Old Testament that has a portrayal of Christ that was fulfilled in the New Testament.  We as Christians as we read these statements from the Old Testament about Christ should boldly say as Peter did, "You are Christ the Son of the Living God."

Today's Hymn: "How Great You Are"

You are deserving of all the praise Lord,
And I am yearning to be in Your presence once more
Deep inside my heart is burning, I want to give You more
For Your the only one that I adore
How great You are, How great You are
Your are the might King, And You've come to reign in me
How great You are, How great You are
I give You all the praises of my heart

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  How thankful we are for the Bible, Your Holy Word, where we read from the Old Testament about the coming Messiah, Your Son Jesus Christ many hundreds of years prior to His coming.  How thankful we are for the New Testament that tells and shows us about the fulfillment of Old Testament Prophecy, and the free gift of salvation through Jesus.    Open our hearts Lord, to Your Word, that we might hid Your words in our hearts, that we might not sin against Thee.
                                                                                                                           Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Tuesday 3 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: 1 Timothy 2:1  "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men."

In this verse Paul uses four of the seven New Testament terms for prayer:

(1) Supplications: which emphasizes personal need
(2) Prayers: is the general word for prayer.  The term is always directed toward God with reverence or worship
(3) Intercessions: means "approaching with confidence," suggesting free access to God in
prayer on the behalf of others.
(4) Giving of Thanks: is an attitude of gratitude, the act of praising God for what He does for us

Each of these aspects of prayer should be included in the prayer life of the Church and the Christians Quite Time with God.

In my Bible Study on prayer and from the Book "Love to Pray" a couple of Practical Suggestions were made:

Start--begin now--it's never to late to pray for others.  Obey the command of 1 Timothy 2:1.  It's not the great prayers we pray; it's the Great God who hears them ("Wow")  Don't give up.  Keep on praying until God answers.

Pray with friends of like passion.  Burdens shared in prayer become lighter.  Hearing others pray increases your faith.  Prayers multiplied bring about greater effect.

I would like to close with these words from Wesley Duewel, "God blesses the world through our prayer.  Prayers enable us to touch God's throne with one hand, the needy world with the other."

Today's Hymn:"Sweet Hour Of Prayer" (verse 1)

Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care, and bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief
And oft escaped the tempers snare, by Thy return, sweet hour of prayer

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Help us to realized as we pray that we pray for our needs, as well as interceding for others.  May we praise you for the greatness of your power and the boldness that we have as Christians to boldly come before you with our prayers and intercessions for others, because of what Your Son Jesus Christ did for us upon the Cross of Calvary.
                                                                                                                    Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Monay 2 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Romans 10:13  "For whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved"

Salvation is the most common biblical expression used to identify the subjective changes in believers lives, when by faith they have received the benefit of Christ's death and resurrection.  The term implies deliverance, safety, preservation, healing and soundness.

It occurs in Scripture in three phases:

(1) Christians have been saved from the guilt and penalty of sin
(2) Christians are saved from the habit and dominion of sin in their lives
(3) When the Lord returns, the Christian will be saved from all the physical results of sin and
      God's curse on the world

We as Christian's today should demonstrate a change in our life's to confirm our wonderful and gracious salvation that comes from our Faith, Trust and Belief in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Today's Hymn: "Our God"

Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty
Glory and honor and power belong unto our God
Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty
Glory and honor and power belong unto our God
Holy and righteous and true, We give our praises to You
Merciful Heavenly Father, There is no other like You
Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty
Glory and honor and power belong unto our God

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  As we come before You there is indeed no one like You.  We give You all the Honor and Glory and worship you as as the King of kings and Lord of lords.  Thank You Lord Jesus for the free gift of Salvation that You give us because of Your Death and Resurrection which we receive the second we place our Faith and Trust in You.
                                                                                                                                      Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for 1 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: John 3:3  "Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you8, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

The new birth or regeneration, is the act by which God imparts spiritual life to one who trusts Christ.  Without this spiritual birth, a person cannot perceive spiritual things, nor can he or she enter into the Kingdom of God.

It is interesting to note that the words "Verily, verily" only appear in the Gospel of John and then always for emphasis.  This concept of the New Birth includes these implications: (1) It undercuts the Jewish dependence on being sons of Abraham (2) It reveals that there must be a work of God "from above" ((3) It teaches the necessity of a new beginning.

Today's Hymn: "Shepherd Of My Soul"

Shepherd of my soul, I give You full control
Wherever You may lead I will follow
I have made the choice to listen for Your voice
Whenever You may lead I will go
Be it in a quite pasture or by a gentle stream
The Shepherd of my soul is by my side
Should I face a mighty mountain or a valley dark and deep
The Shepherd of my soul will be my guide.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Thank You for being our Shepherd and guiding us to the safety of Your loving arms.  May we listen for Your voice and may we say like Isaiah say. "Here I am Lord.  Send me".  (Isaiah 6:8)
                                                                                                  Amen

God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Saturday 30 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Colossians 1:21,22  "And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight."

Being alienated from God indicates a desperate state of utter separation and isolation, which in lost humanity's relationship with God is also marked by hostility.  It is our own evil which makes us hostile to, and which alienates us from God.

Body and flesh in verse 22 clearly states that Christ became man and experienced a physical death.  "To present you.....holy in His sight", expresses the ultimate purpose of reconciliation: it is to eventually usher the believer, made perfectly holy, into the heavenly presence of God.

The believer who was once an enemy of God and alienated by our own wicked works will one day be presented as above reproach on account of Christ's death for us.

Today's Hymn: "There Is Joy In The Lord"

There is joy in the Lord, There is love is His Spirit
There is hope in the knowledge of Him, There's a fountain that flows
Like a river from heaven, Abounding in love to my soul
All blessing and honor are His, All glory and power are His
Let all wisdom and strength, be the Lord's in this place
Let all glory be given to Him

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Thank you for faith in Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Redeemer and our Lord.  Thank You for the joy of being a Christian and your never failing Love and Care for us.  All blessings and honor are Yours, all glory and power are Yours.  May we always give You all our praise which you so richly deserve.
                                                                                                                     Amen
