God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for saturday 21 May 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Exodus 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy."

The fourth of the Ten Commandments, "remember the sabbath day", was the special sign of the covenant with Israel at Mount Sinai.  With this command, God set Israel apart from her neighbors.  Other people had their own various patterns of work and rest, but Israel was to set aside one day in seven for rest.

The word sabbath means "rest".  The day was kept holy by ceasing their labor on that day.  During the Sabbath,  the Israelites worshiped God and recalled His deliverance of them from slavery.  The pattern of six days of work and one of rest was  established by God Himself in the Creation, and God's Old Testament people were to honor Him by refraining from work on the seventh day.

Today's Hymn: "Christ Receiveth Sinful Men"

Come, and he will give you rest, Trust him, for His Word is plain
He will take the sinfulest, Christ received sinful men
Sing it o'er and over again Christ received sinfull men
Make the message pure and plain, Christ received the sinful man

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Thank you for your word that tells us about the free gift that we have through your son Jesus.  Thank You Jesus for receiving us unto Yourself and cleansing us from all our unrighteousness.
                                                                                                               Amen

Today's Biblicial Truth: "Believers are empowered not in proportion to there need but according to God's stength"
