Today's Bible Verse" Exodus 20:15 "You shall not steal"
The eighth commandment protected the sanctity of property by prohibiting theft. The command prohibits stealing of any kind. The concern here is not so much the rights of the individual to property, as for the destructive impact on stealing on relationships within the covenant community.
The penalty for theft in the Old Testament is not jail, but restitution by paying back as least twice what was stolen. Payment to the victim is intended to restore harmony by balancing the books, and is not punitive.

Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold, threaten the soul with infinite loss
Grace that is greater, yes grace untold, points to the refuge, the mighty Cross
Grace, grace, God's grace, Grace that will will pardon and cleanse within

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit As the temptation to take something that doesn't belong to us comes to our minds help us to ponder the question of would my actions be something that would please Jesus and portray Him in me? As Satan seeks to attack the Christian provide for us Lord the strength to resist the devil and he will flee from us.
