Daily Bible Verse and Hymn for Tuesday 22 March 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: 1 John 4:9-11

"In this, the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent his only begotten son into the world, that we might live through Him.  In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought to love one another."

The love of God for us was demonstrated with the death of Jesus, upon the cross on our behalf.  Jesus is the only begotten Son which expresses not a literal birth, but a sense of uniqueness.  IN other words Jesus is the unique Son of God and NO other person is God's Son in the way that He is.

Divine love by its nature is unselfish.  It is self-sacrificing.  Jesus with His death, self sacrificed Himself for you, to avert the punishment our sins deserved, and now enables God to shower His blessings on us.

In verse 11 we as Christians are instructed that, "we also ought to love one another."  It is only fitting that we as Christians are to be loving, just as God loves us.

Today's Hymn: "Love Lifted Me"

I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore
Very deeply stained within, sinking to raise no more;
But the Master of the sea, heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I
Love lifted me, Love lifted me
When nothing else could help, Love lifted me!

Heavenly Father,  How thankful we are that you are a most Gracious and Loving God and that You Loved us so much that You sent Your Son Jesus Christ to be die for our sins that would rescue us from the death penalty which we deserve.  Thank You for Your continuing Love, Mercy and Grace.
                                                                             Amen
