God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for Thursday 7 July 2011

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 7 July 2011"

Today's Bible Verse: Hebrews 13: 5,6 "Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have.  For He Himself has said, "I will never leave nor forsake you."  So we can boldly say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What can man do to me."

Covetousness is addressed in the last of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 19:17).  The attitude of covetousness destroys a person's inheritance in the kingdom.

"I will never leave nor forsake you." "Wow" What a message this is to our hearts.  This statement is perhaps one of the most profound statements in the New Testament. Jesus unlike us who abandoned Him in the Garden of Gethsemane and at the Cross will never ever abondon, or forsake us.

The bottom line of these two verses is: It isn't how much money we have in the bank or what material things that we might have.  It is the fact that God loves us and is committed to us every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day and is always here for us and someday we will be spending all eternity basking in His love and glory.  That my friends is REAL SECURITY.

Today's Hymn: "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus"

O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see?
There's a light for a look at the Savior, and life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full into His wonderful face
And all the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, what a marvelous promise that You made to us, that You would never, ever, forsake or leave us.  We are so thankful Lord that unlike us humans You are faithful in keeping the promises that You make to us.  Help us Lord to always keep our eyes upon Jesus.
                                                                                                               Amen
