God's Words of Wisdom from the Bible for 10 September 2011

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 10 September 2011"

Saturday's Weekend Bible Verse: Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and mammon."

The statement "Two Masters" by Jesus in verse 13 is psychologically true.  The idea of commitment to serving God and money is self-contradictory, because the two motivate us to make very different choices.

For instance, a person who owns a housing occupied by the poor might experience conflict between a desire to make profit from the property and to maintain it in a decent condition.  These motives are so contradictory that he or she must choose (LOVE) one and reject (HATE) the other!

We can't serve God and money simply because we have to choose between the vastly different courses each calls for.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, may we as Christians ask ourselves the question "What would Jesus do",  when we have issues in deciding what we should do with the materialist things in our lives.  May the decisions that we make be pleasing to You, and may others  see Your light in us.
                                                                                                                         Amen
